Medical Assistant and Medical Receptionist - Full-Time - Farmington Hills, Michigan

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain medical records and report statistics as required.

• Register and schedule patients, explain clinic policy to patients and handle the continuous flow of information of the practice.

• Organize correspondence, communicate with vendors and inspect leased supplies and medical supply stock.

• Respect and maintain privacy and dignity of patients, assuring patient confidentiality at all times with HIPAA.

• Must have a courteous, friendly and hardworking attitude.

• Utilize Microsoft Office and scheduling software as dictated by the practice.

• May be asked to supervise the work of other front desk personnel.

• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.

• Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.

• Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification

• Demonstrate effective Written and spoken communication skills

• Demonstrate appropriate social skills

• Demonstrate ability to follow direction

• Prepares patients for examinations. Provides routine information related to medical treatments and procedures.

• Measures and records vital signs. Collects specimens when required.

• Prepares exam rooms, selects and lays out medical supplies and maintains medical equipment.

• Records and reports patient information. Retrieves laboratory test results and patient files.

• Escorts patients and visitors.

• Performs services such as venapuncture, injections, EKG, and PFT and basic lab tests as needed.

• Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.

• Performs clerical functions related to medical activities and may coordinate patient referrals and verify insurance as a back up to receptionist as necessary.

• May be required to change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures administer CPR and other first aid procedures.

• Perform accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.

• Prepare and administer medications with physician authorizations.

• Dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
