English Instructor Pool-Part-Time This part‑time open position is part of the continuous pool for English instructors at Cypress Community College, located in Cypress, California. Position Details Title: English Instructor, Pool – Part‑Time Department: Language Arts Location: Cypress College, Cypress, CA Employment: Part‑time, months of employment vary; duty units consist of lecture units, lab parity units, and lab units, with salaries ranging from $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lecture unit, $1,572.67 – $1,725.85 per lab parity unit, and $1,258.16 – $1,380.60 per lab unit. Recruitment: Continuous recruitment for part‑time and temporary faculty. This pool will remain active for up to one year from the opening date. Duties and Responsibilities Students will receive instruction in English subject areas and may include basic English, advanced composition, and ESL as taught in a collegiate environment. Faculty will create course materials, assess student performance, and participate in advising and departmental meetings. Instruction may be delivered in lecture, small‑group, or online formats. Faculty are expected to demonstrate inclusive teaching practices and incorporate cultural diversity in all instruction. Essential Functions Deliver high‑quality instruction in English subject areas. Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments. Provide timely grading and feedback to students. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and advising as required. Apply inclusive teaching strategies that support diverse learners. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition; OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above subjects. Master’s degree in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing or journalism; OR equivalent professional experience. Evidence of degree conferred on a legible transcript. Desirable Qualifications Recent teaching experience at the lower‑division or community‑college level. Ability to develop varied teaching techniques and assessment methods.
