Clark Government Center, Miami, FL, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 1245 Salary Range: $40,007.50 To $64,512.24 Annually Overview This is advanced clerical work with extensive public contact and supervisory responsibilities related to property tax exemption administration in the Office of the Property Appraiser (OPA). Employees in this class are responsible for examining, evaluating, reconciling and researching various property tax exemption applications and records to determine benefit eligibility and level of eligibility; prepare evidence and records of OPA decisions for Value Adjustment Board (VAB) legal hearings; review and audit exemptions work product; is heavily engaged in dealing with customers both in the office and through outreach events. Required Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or GED. One year of clerical experience in a tax assessment, property appraisal, property tax exemptions administration, real estate sales, or abstracting titles is required. Completion of 30 semester credits in Real Estate and/or Appraisal related coursework may substitute for the required experience. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Oversees the work of Exemptions Clerks that perform intake and processing of property tax exemption applications Research and examine facts, evidence, records, documents, and statements reconciling with property tax roll data to determine and evaluate eligibility and level of eligibility for current year’s exemptions Prepares related property tax records and forms for Department of Revenue, Tax Collector, and Clerk of Courts Evaluate and calculate exemptions and assessment differentials Examine and evaluate organizational documents, financial records, Internal Revenue Service documents, licenses, accreditation, tax returns, salaries, operations, fees, gifts, bonuses, gratuities, drawing accounts, commissions, loans, obligations, compensations, contracts, management, procurement, reserves, services, provision of goods and supplies, mortgages, liens, encumbrances upon the property or other purposes, charges, maintenance, and operational expenses for Ad Valorem/ Institutional exemptions (non-profit and educational organizations). Prepare and evaluate evidence and documents of Property Appraiser's. Office decisions for legal hearing at the Value Adjustment Board for all statutory property tax exemptions Coordinate and ensure judicial procedures, protocols, timetables, and proceedings are followed. Prepare case files, documents, official correspondence, related notices and lien documents in accordance with state laws and policy to ensure due process and case integrity. Review, evaluate and reconcile external records and information with applicant records and data to make decisions and determinations of continued eligibility. Analyze, review and verify basic tax roll data validation reports and adjust and correct discrepancies. Timely processing Finding of Facts by the Value Adjustment Board Assign work to Exemptions Clerks Review and analyze land and building records to determine and calculate applicable use percentages per exemption.
