Safety Manager

Omega Construction is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support our safety and health management system through project evaluations, employee training, program development, and continuous improvement. In this role, you'll be a trusted resource to project teams across our markets — identifying hazards, developing practical solutions, and helping shape a safety culture people genuinely buy into, all while protecting Omega's people and projects at every stage.

We're flexible on location—this role can be based out of any of our offices: Winston-Salem, Apex, Greenville, or Savannah

What You'll Do

You'll serve as a hands-on safety partner and program builder, moving between active job sites and the office to keep our teams safe, compliant, and consistent. You'll conduct field evaluations, deliver training, and develop the written programs that hold it all together — working closely with project teams, subcontractors, leadership, and the rest of the Safety Team. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting project safety evaluations, audits, and inspections, identifying hazards and helping project teams develop corrective actions
• Participating in incident investigations and root cause analyses
• Providing safety guidance and support to project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors
• Developing and delivering employee safety training, including toolbox talks, safety bulletins, stand-downs, and orientation sessions
• Communicating regulatory requirements and company expectations in a practical, understandable way
• Developing and revising safety policies, procedures, and programs, and researching regulatory requirements and industry best practices
• Supporting the creation of company-wide safety initiatives, manuals, and guidance documents
• Maintaining inspection records, training documentation, and safety reports, and tracking corrective actions and follow-up activities
• Assisting with subcontractor safety evaluations and prequalification efforts
• Supporting company fleet safety initiatives, including driver safety monitoring, vehicle incident review, and administration of fleet telematics systems
• Managing multiple project sites and priorities simultaneously, with regular travel — including overnight as needed — across the company's operating area

What You'll Bring

• Three (3) or more years of safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments (5+ years of construction safety experience preferred)
• Experience conducting workplace safety evaluations, audits, or inspections, and developing safety training content and written procedures, policies, or programs
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification and CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or the ability to obtain both within three months of hire)
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with field personnel, subcontractors, and management
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management abilities, comfortable balancing field, program, and administrative work
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Preferred: experience with a commercial general contractor, building company-wide safety programs, supporting multiple sites at once; familiarity with fleet safety, telematics, MVR management, and DOT/FMCSA requirements; and professional certifications such as CHST, STSC, ASP, CSP, or OSHA 500
