DEPARTMENT OF SPEECH, LANGUAGE, AND HEARING SCIENCES POSITION AVAILABLE: One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2025, and/or Spring Semester 2026. THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) offers a Bachelor of Science degree and an accredited Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. There are approximately 200 majors and six regular faculty. DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Teaching one or more basic and advanced course(s) for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California. RANK AND SALARY:Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall Semester begins August 19, 2025 and Spring Semester begins January 20, 2026. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in communication disorders, and academic and practical expertise. University teaching experience is preferred. CA State License & Board Certification by ASHA in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology is preferred. In addition, candidates seeking employment in our credential program must have: a) current knowledge of the content they teach/supervise; b) knowledge of the current context of public schooling including California’s adopted P-12 content standards, framework, and accountability system; c) knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation; and d) demonstration of effective professional practices in teaching and learning, scholarship, and service.
