Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC / PCU / Stepdown

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite | Weekend Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a flex unit serving both medical-surgical floor and stepdown patients based on census and hospital needs, managing up to 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (stepdown)
• Titrate drips per physician orders including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Monitor and manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and ventilators (stepdown); escalate ventilator setting changes to ICU per protocol
• Collaborate with Clinical Associates (CAs) and charge RNs to maintain safe patient ratios and unit workflow
• Interpret and respond to telemetry monitoring supported by a remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Float to other floor or stepdown units as needed; agency RNs are first to float or be pulled

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records (required)
• Ability to manage med-surg (6:1) and stepdown (3:1) patient ratios
• Comfort working with a diverse medical patient population across varying acuity levels

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment
• Experience titrating vasoactive or sedation drips in an acute care environment
