The Day-of Event Coordinator & Hospitality Lead serves as NORR Kitchen’s on-site representative, helping ensure every event is executed with professionalism, intention, and exceptional hospitality.

This is a hands-on serving and leadership position—not a supervisory-only role. NORR events are often executed by small teams of two or more people. You will lead while actively working alongside the team throughout setup, guest service, clearing, dishwashing, cleanup, and breakdown.

You must be willing to serve guests, wash dishes, clean, lift, carry, and assist wherever needed. No responsibility is beneath the lead. If you are looking for a position where you only oversee others, this will not be the right fit.

Responsibilities

• Serve as NORR’s primary on-site representative.
• Review the event timeline, service plan, assignments, and client notes before service.
• Lead and work alongside the team during setup, service, cleanup, and breakdown.
• Coordinate with the chef to maintain proper timing, pacing, and communication.
• Serve food, run plates, clear and reset tables, assist guests, and maintain service areas.
• Wash dishes, remove trash, clean the kitchen, pack equipment, and reset the property.
• Monitor the entire event and redirect priorities when needed.
• Anticipate challenges and resolve them calmly and discreetly.
• Ensure the team remains professional, productive, and guest-focused.
• Confirm the event space is clean, organized, and properly reset before departure.
• Communicate significant concerns or incidents to NORR leadership.

Hospitality & Leadership

This role requires leadership without ego. You should be confident giving direction while remaining willing to jump into any task the team needs.

You must be comfortable interacting with clients and guests, reading the room, anticipating needs, and protecting the guest experience when challenges arise behind the scenes.

Service should feel polished and attentive without becoming stiff or intrusive.

• Arrive on time, prepared, and professionally presented.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully.
• Remain calm and solutions-oriented under pressure.
• Treat clients, guests, teammates, vendors, and private properties with care.
• Stay off personal phones unless needed for event communication.
• Maintain client confidentiality.
• Remain flexible when event needs or priorities change.
• Stay until service, dishwashing, cleanup, packing, and breakdown are complete.

This is an active position requiring extended standing, lifting, carrying, bending, loading, unloading, and repetitive service tasks. Candidates should be able to lift approximately 40 pounds when needed.

Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:

• Event coordination
• Catering or banquet service
• Fine dining or luxury hospitality
• Restaurant or front-of-house leadership
• Private events, hotels, or resorts

Previous management experience is preferred, but strong leadership instincts, professionalism, sound judgment, and a genuine willingness to work are equally important.

Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to event locations are required. Evening, weekend, and occasional holiday availability is important.

Position Details

Job Type: Independent Contractor
Starting Compensation: $30 per hour
Location: On-site events throughout Southern California
Schedule: Event-based; hours and frequency will vary
