About the Position

Job Title: Oncology Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg/Telemetry Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med Surg/Telemetry nursing License: Registered Nurse (RN) license required Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: Proficiency in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing, experience in oncology-specific procedures Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Oncology Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients diagnosed with various cancers. Our unit specializes in providing treatments such as chemotherapy and clinical trials. The nurse will focus on patient safety through infection prevention protocols and patient falls management. Key Responsibilities include: Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patients. Administer chemotherapy treatments and monitor patients for adverse reactions. Participate in clinical trials and assist in data collection and documentation. Perform specialized procedures such as brachytherapy and neobladder care. Implement infection prevention protocols and ensure a safe environment for patients. Monitor telemetry readings and respond appropriately to changes in patient conditions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Perform feeding tube care and management, including IV therapy and blood product administration. Utilize computerized charting systems to accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes. Qualifications include: Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg/Telemetry nursing. Proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and providing appropriate interventions. Experience in chemotherapy administration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Preferred certification in Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4 and may be adjusted to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekends are variable based on unit needs. There is no set or blocked scheduling; self-schedule requests are accommodated to ensure a balance. All candidates must meet experience requirements within the past 3 years. At least 1 year of current specialty experience is required for job consideration.
