Metals USA (Lynch Metals branch) is seeking an Accounting Clerk for our Union, NJ location. Metals USA is a leading metals processor/distributor in North America, providing a wide range of aluminum, carbon and steel products and services. Base Wage: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour plus bonus

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Ability to interface effectively with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization.
• Ability to work in a high volume, transaction driven environment.
• Good analytical & organizational skills, able to make sound decisions utilizing the data at hand.
• Ability to communicate both oral & written effectively with both internal & external customers.
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism & diplomacy to include telephone etiquette.
• Must have knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
• Must have strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
• Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Office Products: Excel and ERP.

Physical Demands

Occupation requires being sedentary less than or equal to 75% of the time (< to 6 hours per day).

• Stand, walk, sit, hear, talking, use of hands and fingers, hand-eye coordination, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
• Regularly required to work on multiple concurrent tasks with constant interruptions
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull up to a maximum of 25 lbs. without assistance

Essential Functions:

• Generate statements and email customers to obtain payment status.
• Review customer credit limits and determine credit worthiness.
• Create, review and maintain customer credit files.
• Review daily cash receipts.
• Backup for roles within the accounting department (AP, AR and accounting tasks).
• Processes credit card payments routinely.
• Provides general administrative and clerical support.
• Provides the Controller and/or Senior Accountant with accurate financial data to ensure timely reporting.
• Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of an accounting clerk.
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
