Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple problem‑patient situations, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making and self‑direction. The role also includes patient, family/support system education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional and self‑developmental activities. The RT II provides patient care with an understanding and awareness of population specific needs and addresses biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and patient/family education needs. It also participates in the education of new employees and others. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Provides customer service and supports team collaboration Completes patient care, documentation and education Promotes a team spirit and a positive work environment; provides an inclusive environment for students and staff Administers quality patient care; performs patient assessment, verifies orders, administers aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen and medical gas therapy Performs ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, and airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care) Performs arterial blood gas sampling and analysis Educates patients and mentors/precepts new employees, students and peers Assists in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, pulmonary diagnostic testing (location specific) Promotes accurate electronic orders, charting and charging Promotes a high level of patient safety (medication safety, NPSG, etc.) Supports performance improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice; reviews revised and new DPPs Performs other duties as assigned Complies with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct Required Minimum Education Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy – Preferred Required Minimum Licenses and Certification(s) NBRC‑RRT – Registered Respiratory Therapist RCP – Respiratory Care Professional BLS – Basic Life Support (or ARC‑BLS or BLS‑I) ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (or ARC‑ALS or ACLS‑I) Required Minimum Experience 0–2 years clinical experience with a minimum of 6 months in critical care Required Minimum Skills Strong communication and critical thinking skills Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other health‑care professionals Computer skills, including familiarity with databases Good customer‑relation, assessment, and communication skills Benefits Join us and discover support to do more meaningful work and enjoy a rewarding life within Georgia’s integrated health system. #J-18808-Ljbffr Wellstar Health Systems, Inc.
