Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Location: In-Person, [Chesterfield, MO] Reports To: CEO/President Firm Assets Under Management: ~$1.5 Billion Client Base: ~425 Wealth Management Clients plus 5 Multi-Family Office Relationships Position Overview: Brand Asset Management Group is seeking an experienced, strategic, and entrepreneurial Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the firm’s investment platform and help shape the next phase of growth across both our wealth management and multi-family office businesses. The CIO will serve as the firm’s senior investment leader, responsible for investment strategy, portfolio construction, manager selection, due diligence, capital markets research, portfolio implementation, and investment communication. Initially, the CIO will operate as a highly hands-on individual contributor, assuming responsibility for the day-to-day management of the investment function. As the firm continues to grow, the CIO will be responsible for designing, building, and leading a scalable investment organization that includes portfolio design and asset allocation research, public- and private-market research, manager due diligence, trading, and investment operations support. In addition to overseeing investment strategy for approximately $1.5 billion in client assets, the CIO will play a key role in supporting and expanding the firm’s multi-family office offering. The firm is currently serving highly affluent families through a comprehensive family office platform and is actively pursuing growth in this area. As a result, the CIO will have increasing responsibility for sourcing, evaluating, implementing, and monitoring private market investments and customized investment solutions designed for sophisticated investors and multi-generational family wealth. This role is ideal for an investment professional who combines institutional-quality investment expertise with a builder’s mentality and a passion for creating a best-in-class investment platform. About Our Investment Approach We employ a long-term, evidence-based investment philosophy centered on diversified portfolios and disciplined implementation. Core portfolio exposures are primarily constructed using: Passive public equity mutual funds and ETFs Actively managed fixed income funds and strategies Tax-efficient portfolio construction methodologies Alternative and private market investments Our alternative investment platform is becoming an increasingly important component of client portfolios, particularly within our multi-family office relationships, and currently includes investments in: Private Equity Venture Capital Private Real Estate Private Credit The CIO will help define the firm’s long-term vision for integrating public and private markets into both traditional wealth management portfolios and customized family office solutions Key Responsibilities Investment Leadership & Strategy Serve as the steward of the firm’s investment philosophy and portfolio management process. Lead strategic asset allocation, portfolio construction, and risk management initiatives. Develop and maintain investment policies, approved investment lists, and portfolio guidelines. Evaluate market developments, economic trends, and emerging investment opportunities. Partner with executive leadership on the firm’s long-term investment strategy. Chair and lead the firm’s Investment Committee. Public Markets Research & Portfolio Construction Conduct ongoing research and due diligence on: Equity ETFs and mutual funds Active fixed income managers Asset allocation strategies Capital market assumptions Portfolio risk frameworks Design and maintain model portfolios. Monitor investment performance and portfolio outcomes across client segments. Make recommendations regarding manager selection, removal, and replacement. Evaluate opportunities to enhance portfolio efficiency and client outcomes. Private Markets & Family Office Investments Lead sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, and monitoring of private market investments. Establish robust manager evaluation frameworks for: Private Equity Venture Capital Private Real Estate Private Credit Opportunistic alternative investments Build and maintain relationships with fund sponsors, general partners, placement agents, consultants, and institutional investment managers. Develop portfolio construction frameworks for incorporating private investments into diversified client portfolios. Partner with advisors and family office clients to design customized private market allocations. Monitor liquidity, capital call schedules, vintage diversification, and overall portfolio exposures. Support the growth and evolution of the firm’s multi-family office platform through sophisticated investment solutions tailored to ultra-high-net-worth families. Portfolio Implementation & Trading Oversight Oversee portfolio implementation, rebalancing, trading, and investment execution processes. Develop scalable investment workflows and procedures. Ensure efficient implementation of investment decisions across client portfolios. Collaborate with operations and advisory teams to improve investment-related processes. Oversee portfolio monitoring and risk management practices. Advisor, Client & Business Development Support Serve as the firm’s lead investment spokesperson. Support advisors in client and prospect meetings involving complex investment issues. Present investment recommendations and market insights to clients, families, and firm leadership. Develop investment commentary, white papers, market updates, and educational content. Participate in business development efforts involving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth prospects. Serve as a trusted advisor to family office clients on investment-related matters. Team Building & Organizational Leadership Design and build the firm’s long-term investment organization. Establish processes, systems, and research disciplines consistent with institutional investment standards. Recruit, mentor, and manage future team members across: Portfolio design and asset allocation research Public markets research Private markets research Trading and implementation Investment operations support Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, collaboration, fiduciary excellence, and continuous improvement. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field. 10-15+ years of relevant investment experience within an RIA, OCIO platform, family office, institutional consultant, endowment, foundation, wealth management firm, or asset management organization. Deep expertise in: Asset allocation Portfolio construction Public markets investing Active fixed income strategies Alternative investments Private markets due diligence Experience evaluating investment managers and conducting rigorous investment research. Demonstrated success communicating sophisticated investment concepts to clients, advisors, and firm leadership. Strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Ability to operate effectively as both a strategic executive and hands-on practitioner. Preferred CFA designation strongly preferred. MBA or other advanced degree. Series 65 Experience serving ultra-high-net-worth clients, family offices, endowments, or foundations. Experience building and leading investment teams. Experience developing or scaling a private markets program. Familiarity with portfolio analytics, performance reporting, and investment technology platforms. Develop an institutional-quality private markets research and monitoring framework. Expand the firm’s capabilities in private equity, venture capital, private real estate, and private credit. Strengthen investment communication and engagement with advisors and clients. Create a strategic plan for staffing and organizational growth within the investment function. Hire and develop key investment personnel as firm growth warrants. Support the continued expansion of the firm’s multi-family office platform through sophisticated investment capabilities and customized portfolio solutions. Build an investment organization capable of supporting substantial future growth in AUM and family office relationships.
