Filing Dates August 19, 2025 at 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) Appointment and Term Type of Recruitment: OPEN COMPETITIVE – EMERGENCY Exam Number: b0752D-EA Applicants may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. During the initial period, performance will be assessed and weighted 100%. Successful candidates will be considered for permanent appointment as Fiscal Officer I. Essential Job Functions Plan, assign, direct, and evaluate the work of accounting, budget control and compilation, cashiering, supply, payroll, statistical, data processing, and other staff or service activities of a department. Have major non‑accounting financial responsibility involving the supervision of an active collection program, making recommendations concerning the management and investment of large funds, preparing highly technical financial analyses and projections, or negotiating and administering revenue‑producing agreements. Have major substantive responsibility for the formulation, analysis, and negotiation of departmental operating and program budgets as needed. Advise and consult with management concerning the accounting and financial implications of existing and projected departmental operations. Supervise or personally conduct cost, revenue, and accounting systems and procedures studies; write reports of findings; and secure approval for implementation of recommendations from departmental administration and the Auditor‑Controller when necessary. Analyze and interpret accounting provisions of laws and regulations and recommend steps for their implementation. Coordinate the work of subordinate accounting, financial, and other activities with other divisions, departments, and clientele. Act as immediate overall assistant to a higher-level fiscal officer. Requirements Minimum: 21 semester or 32 quarter units of accounting from an accredited institution, including at least two courses in cost accounting, governmental accounting, or auditing. Option I: Three or more years of responsible professional accounting or auditing experience at the level of Accountant III, Accounting Systems Analyst I, Intermediate Accountant‑Auditor, or higher. Option II: Two or more years of responsible supervisory accounting experience at the level of Accounting Officer I or higher. Applicants must meet the above requirements at the time of filing.
