Mechanical Technician (Edson)

Skilled Mechanical Technician – TC Energy Located in Edson or Whitecourt, Alberta, the Mountainview Area Operations Team seeks a skilled mechanical technician who will report to the site office. The role focuses on high‑pressure natural gas pipeline systems and associated gas machinery. Responsibilities Operate and maintain turbine‑driven engines, gas compressors, standby generators, oil coolers, air compressors, large‑bank cooler fans, gear boxes, and other auxiliary equipment. Assist in full or partial engine/gas compressor overhaul. Perform precision measurement and alignment functions; analyze engine performance reports. Interpret and update drawings, schematics, and technical reference documents. Plan and prepare for outages, coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance, and execute major maintenance projects. Initiate corrective actions to review and improve maintenance procedures. Demonstrate safety leadership and excellence; complete work orders and enter data into job plans. Support pipeline repairs as necessary and perform additional tasks as required. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant natural gas or energy industry experience. Completion of a second year of a trades program or two years of vocational/technical training from a recognized institution. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Successfully complete a pre‑employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing. Preferred Qualifications Experience maintaining and troubleshooting turbine engines and turbines. Knowledge of internal combustion engines, reciprocating and centrifugal gas compressors, turbines, and standby generators. Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading drawings. Proficiency with a computerized maintenance management system. Additional Requirements Work schedule: Week1—Mon‑Thu 9h/day; Fri off. Week2—Mon‑Thu 9h/day; Fri 8h. Available for 24‑hour call‑out, extended days or weeks for emergency response. Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (up to 40% of the time during peak demand periods). Accept conditions of adverse weather, heavy lifting (up to 50lb), and confined spaces. Background screening, including criminal and credit checks. Legal authorization to work in Canada.
