Description
  • Conduct thorough evaluations for patients of all ages, utilizing both standardized measures and observational techniques to ascertain individual needs.
  • Create tailored treatment strategies that aim at both immediate and long-term communication and swallowing recovery goals.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy aimed at enhancing communication, language proficiency, fluency, and swallowing capabilities.
  • Engage in collaborative care with multidisciplinary teams consisting of nurses, physicians, occupational and physical therapists, family members, and caregivers.
  • Educate patients and their families on strategies and techniques to enhance progress outside the therapy environment.
  • Occasionally participate in inpatient assessments and therapies to maintain a seamless continuity of care.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation adhering to state and federal regulations alongside organizational policies.
  • Commit to lifelong learning through professional development opportunities and peer consultation.
Education
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required if not yet ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Demonstrated mastery of evidence-based practices for a diverse age range, along with a sound understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional communication skills enabling effective interaction with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Capable of adjusting therapy methods to meet the varied cultural and linguistic needs of your patient base.
  • Solid clinical reasoning and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and pertaining documentation practices.
