GL Accountant

GL AccountantMediaNews Group is looking for a GL Accountant to join our team. This position is responsible for all GL activities related to payroll, withholdings, and benefits for all assigned properties (newspapers) owned by MediaNews Group and Tribune Publishing Co.Please Note: Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Colorado or Ohio.What you will do:Prepare weekly, biweekly, and monthly journal entries and supporting schedules for assigned propertiesPrepare documentation for journal entries in the areas of payroll and benefitsEnter journal entries into OracleComplete reconciliations within the Oracle ARCS online reconciliation moduleResearch and clear reconciling items from account reconciliations in a timely mannerField questions/inquiries from department heads, FP&A contacts, and publishers regarding financial results and perform research activitiesParticipate in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cyclesWhat you will bring:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field1–3 years of accounting experience, including account reconciliations and financial close cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual)Experience with multi-entity or intercompany accountingStrong understanding of financial statements and general ledger accounting principlesAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and multi-tabbed workbooksExcellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across departments and with external vendorsStrong problem-solving ability with the agility to navigate less-standardized processesBenefits and Compensation:The salary range is $62,500 - $65,000.
