Accounting Clerk

Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to the accounting department. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and recording a wide range of transactions. The Accounting Clerk ensures the accuracy of financial documentation and assists accountants with various administrative tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain Financial Records: Keep financial records updated and ensure their accuracy.
• Prepare Reports: Generate financial reports needed for the business.
• Record Transactions: Enter key data of financial transactions into the database/ERP system.
• Reconcile Accounts: Reconcile bank statements and accounts in a timely manner.
• Administrative Support: Provide clerical support to the accounting department, including typing, preparing, and maintaining accounting documents and records.
• Handle Invoices: Process invoices, organize office mail, and manage customer and vendor accounts.
• Resolve Discrepancies: Research, track, and resolve accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
• Compliance: Ensure all functions are performed in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience: Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable Clerk.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
• Technical Skills: Competency in MS Office, databases, and accounting software
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Education

• An Associate of Business Degree in Accounting/Finance desired but not required

• Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and competence in explaining corporate accounting policies and procedures to customers and staff
• Contributes analysis and undertakes projects that significantly improve staff productivity or the timeliness/usefulness of key information provided to management
