TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Shreveport, Louisiana, 71103!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 1-2 years License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (preferred) Must-Have: EKG competency exam required prior to arrival Description: Traveler will be required to manage patients with conditions including respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, sepsis, and post-operative care. Patient ratios will be 1:3-4. Skills required include titrating cardiac drips, vasopressor titration, insulin drips, central line management, and tracheostomy care. Experience with feeding tubes, BIPAP, chest tubes, wound care, and blood product administration is required. Support on the unit includes charge nurses who may take patient assignments, in-house phlebotomy, and a resource nurse. Hospitalists are available on-call 24/7. The charting system includes EMR: Meditech Expanse, IV Pumps: Alaris, and medication dispensing: Pyxis. Floating may occur to other units with patient ratios of 1:5-6. Scheduling includes a weekend rotation of every other weekend and mandatory shifts of 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Time off requests are permitted for up to 7 days; approval is required. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 major holidays. The unit culture is diverse and traveler-friendly. Scrub color is pewter.
