Lead Infrastructure Engineer - IBMi

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience.
• Deep knowledge of one or more infrastructure engineering areas, such as hardware, networking, databases, storage, deployment, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessment.
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in infrastructure engineering workflows, with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity.
• Ability to review AI-assisted recommendations before implementation, escalate uncertainty, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
• Understanding of infrastructure architecture for IBM i hardware, including distributed servers, SAN storage, databases, and application components.
• Extensive hardware knowledge of IBM i systems and related infrastructure.
• Software knowledge of IBM i operating systems, ROBOT, NDM, SFTP, SMTP, MQ v9, BRMS, clustering, and VIOS.
• Ability to work with external vendors, such as IBM, to coordinate hardware replacements and troubleshoot issues.
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering, including designing, coding, testing, and delivering software to automate manual operational work.
• Working proficiency in incident, problem, and change management processes and procedures, including troubleshooting priority incidents and facilitating blameless post-mortems.
• Preferred: Understanding of business analysis, software development, maintenance, and software improvement.
• Preferred: Experience in multi-operational environments that include Non-Stop, IBM z Series, AIX, UNIX, and other distributed systems.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile development.

• Apply technical expertise and problem-solving methods to infrastructure engineering projects of moderate scope, developing and troubleshooting solutions of moderate complexity.
• Use software- and hardware-driven technologies and best practices to manage IBM i infrastructure, while remaining open to new approaches.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation, validating outputs and handling operational data according to its sensitivity and security requirements.
• Lead a workstream or project spanning one or more infrastructure engineering technologies, collaborating across platforms to architect and implement changes that resolve issues and modernize technology and processes.
• Assess upstream and downstream systems, data, and technical impacts, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Apply reuse-first and AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation to identify recurring issues and validate remediation options; keep changes traceable and auditable, and aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
• Support IBM i disaster recovery exercises.
• Troubleshoot priority incidents, facilitate blameless post-mortems, and help ensure incidents are permanently resolved.
