General Accountant (Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper)

We're hiring a Staff Accountant / General Accountant who wants meaningful client work, professional growth, and a clear development path. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on accounting and bookkeeping experience who is ready to take ownership of general ledger responsibilities while continuing to grow in a supportive, collaborative public accounting environment. This role requires sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to think through issues-not just follow a checklist. What You'll Do Prepare and post journal entries Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts Support month-end and year-end close Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules Research and resolve account discrepancies Assist with operational and financial audit fieldwork Perform data entry and financial analysis Support income tax preparation for individual, business, and non-profit clients (as assigned) Communicate clearly with clients and internal team members What We're Looking For Experience with QuickBooks and general ledger accounting Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to analyze issues and problem-solve independently Clear, professional communication skills Comfort working with multiple clients or entities Public accounting or small-business accounting experience preferred Why Join J.R.
