Location : Birmingham, AL (relocation assistance provided) They are seeking a Executive Chef to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama, to lead the opening of a new, high-profile restaurant. This unique American grill concept will serve as a welcoming, all-day dining destination in a stunning location near downtown, designed to bring the Southern oyster and steakhouse tradition to life. An approach inspired by establishments will elevate Birmingham’s culinary landscape, offering brunch, lunch, and dinner that have molded into staples of the community and providing a quality-of-life opportunity for a chef ready to make a long-term commitment to our vibrant community. Role Overview The Executive Chef will take ownership and execution of the culinary program, working closely with the team to execute and evolve the menu within the framework of Southern hospitality. This is a rare opportunity for a chef who thrives in high-volume, high-energy environments and desires to make a meaningful impact on both the team and the local community. The ideal candidate will have a strong connection to the South, bringing both regional expertise and a well-traveled palate. Key Responsibilities Menu Development : Design and oversee a menu that balances classic Southern flavors with innovative, seasonal ingredients. The Chef will have some creative freedom to introduce specials and new items. Kitchen Management : Lead kitchen operations to ensure consistency, quality, and excellence in every service, particularly during high-volume periods. Team Leadership : Hire, train, and mentor a cohesive team, fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Guest Experience : Maintain high standards of presentation, taste, and service that align with the elevated dining experience. Financial Oversight : Manage kitchen budgets, cost controls, and inventory to support the restaurant’s financial objectives. Community Engagement : Play an active role in Birmingham’s culinary scene, embodying a commitment to community involvement and excellence in hospitality. Key Qualifications Experience : Minimum 10 years in well established kitchens, with at least 3 years in a leadership role (Executive Chef or equivalent). Background : Proven experience in high-standard institutional restaurants or independent concepts similar. Culinary Expertise : Strong foundation or appreciation of Southern cuisine with a creative, adaptable approach to develop for market needs. Leadership Style : Team-oriented with strong mentoring skills and a commitment to staff development. Community-Focused : Ready to integrate into Birmingham’s local culture and invest in the city’s growth.
