Senior Staff Accountant - Unanet

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant with government contracting experience and hands-on proficiency with Unanet. This individual will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and project accounting while ensuring compliance with government contracting regulations and applicable accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, account schedules, and supporting documentation.
\n
• Utilize Unanet for general ledger accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, and transaction processing.
\n
• Assist with project cost tracking, labor cost allocations, indirect cost allocations, and expense reporting.
\n
• Support the maintenance and reconciliation of indirect cost pools and allocation rates.
\n
• Ensure accurate recording of direct and indirect costs in accordance with company policies, GAAP, and government contracting requirements.
\n
• Assist with DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and other government compliance activities.
\n
• Review project financial data to identify discrepancies, unusual variances, and potential accounting issues.
\n
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and general ledger activities as needed.
\n
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure audit-ready documentation.
\n
• Collaborate with project managers, finance leadership, and other internal stakeholders to support financial planning and operational reporting.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the government contracting industry.
\n
• Hands-on experience with Unanet is required.
\n
• Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close procedures.
\n
• Familiarity with government contracting regulations, including FAR and applicable DCAA requirements.
\n
• Experience with direct and indirect cost accounting, labor distribution, and indirect rate structures.
\n
• Knowledge of government contract types, project accounting, and cost allocation methodologies.
\n
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial reports and reconciliations.
\n
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
