Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant for Hospital-Based Rehabilitation Team

Work Environment

This position will be based onsite within our hospital setting, where you will collaborate with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. The hospital location in Los Angeles offers a thriving community, with a diverse patient population that reflects the rich cultural tapestry of the city. You will be working Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of our patients and clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist physical therapists in developing and administering tailored treatment plans targeted at restoring mobility, enhancing strength, and improving functionality in patients.
• Directly work with patients to facilitate therapeutic exercises and rehabilitation activities, ensuring they are performed correctly to maximize benefits and minimize discomfort.
• Educate patients on effective body mechanics and guide them through safe exercise techniques, including home exercises, to support their recovery journey.
• Administer physical therapy modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, all performed under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, including improvements in range of motion, strength, and overall functional capabilities following treatments.
• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are organized and readily available, streamlining session readiness.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure cohesive care delivery and optimal patient outcomes through regular communication and coordination.
• Provide emotional support to patients, fostering a positive therapeutic environment that motivates progress and instills confidence during their rehabilitation process.
• Maintain compliance with ethical and professional standards, protecting patient confidentiality and respecting their rights at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will involve interacting with patients across various demographics, encompassing individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, neurological disorders, or age-related conditions. This diverse interaction will allow you to adapt your approach based on individual patient needs, providing personalized care that assists in their recovery goals.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, complemented by an Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in California.
• A comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions, as well as a proficiency in implementing therapeutic exercises as directed.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively connect and engage with patients and cooperate with the healthcare team.

Compensation and Benefits
