(Greenville) are a private, single-family office that supports the Meijer family focusing on customized family, philanthropic, and financial services. This position is part of GVP. GVP and GAM have different roles and responsibilities but support one another and work collaboratively to support the Meijer family.

Position Description:

The Accounting & Tax Specialist is responsible for processing, analyzing, and reporting financial information for households, foundations, and investment entities. This position is responsible for efficiently and accurately processing, analyzing, preparing, and reporting tax and financial transactions for a variety of entities and clients of GVP. This includes the preparation, review, and management of the individual, gift, trust, and/or investment entity tax compliance process, including workpaper design and automation, record management and retention, and working with external service providers. In addition, the preparation and management of IRS and state examinations and notices and review of tax filings for completeness, accuracy, and risk mitigation. This position supports the Greenville tax, treasury, and finance functions, with an emphasis on risk management through the monitoring and implementation of internal control procedures, development and implementation of automation through AI tools, and cashflow forecasting with tax planning. The Accounting & Tax Specialist reports to the Director of Finance & Operations and assists him and the Chief Financial Officer with various ad hoc projects and responsibilities. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

•           Performs regular accounting responsibilities in the preparation and review of the financial statements within the Greenville ecosystem (investment partnerships, foundations, and households)

•           Tracks partners and partnership capital accounts and tax & investment basis

•           Prepares, reviews, develops, and delivers recurring financial packages for investment partnerships, foundations, and households

•           Manages the tax compliance process through the Greenville ecosystem through coordinating with internal team members and external service providers

•           Develops a strong working knowledge of the accounting and financial reporting software used by the finance and investment teams

•           Responsible for tracking and modifying existing policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls

•           Contributes and drives process improvements and efficiency initiatives for accounting, tax, and financial reporting, with an emphasis on AI automation

•           Assists with special projects as needed

Education and Experience:

•           Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and five or more years of tax, financial reporting, or accounting experience required, CPA preferred

•           Proficient with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting software. Experience with SAGE Intacct preferred

•           Requires an understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as financial accounting and reporting requirements

•           Technical understanding of investment partnerships, including a focus on private equity, tiered partnership structures, and profit and fee allocations is highly preferred

•           Must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks

•           Ability to interact with clients and collaborate with others in a professional and highly confidential environment

•           Must be a self-motivated individual who works well independently and within a team

Working Conditions and Qualifications:

Offices are provided, and there will be occasional duties requiring non-traditional business hours and locations. Ability to move up to 10 pounds or more. Flexible work hours and an occasional willingness to travel are required. Strong interpersonal skills, computer skills, English language and writing skills, and experience are required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, is detailed oriented, has ability to multi-task, take on other duties as assigned, and be a self-motivator.
