Lab POC Coordinator - OLGMC - PRN

This job implements and maintains the company's Point of Care Testing Program at the assigned facility, coordinating point‑of‑care testing operations to ensure reliable patient testing and timely services. It monitors POC-specific Performance Improvement and Quality Control activities, exhibits knowledge of and adherence to institution and department policies and procedures, and oversees testing personnel competency with documentation, compliance, and inspection readiness for CLIA, CAP, JCAHO and other laboratory accrediting agencies inspecting Point‑of‑Care Testing. Maintains inspection readiness and regulatory agency compliance. Develops performance improvement and utilization management program for POCT. Supports department goals and objectives. Acts as Pathology Department representative and liaison. Qualifications Education: None specified. Experience: Required – 5 years laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist. Preferred – Experience with regulatory agency accreditation inspections. Certifications: Required – Current Louisiana license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist – Specialist. Meets CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties. ASCP certification or equivalent as a Medical Technologist. Any incumbent certified by ASCP on or after January 1 2004 must successfully complete the requirements of the ASCP’s Certification Maintenance Program. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient‑care process. Ability to work independently, efficiently under pressure, and set priorities. Interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with patients, nurses, physicians, management, other healthcare personnel and external contacts. Analytical skills to perform calculations, review data, and prepare a variety of reports. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The role requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and may involve pushing, pulling or production‑rate pace handling, including stooping, bending, reaching and grabbing with arms and hands. Prolonged sitting and flexible work schedules, including more than 8 hours a day and weekends, may be required. The normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue. Incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid. The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. There is potential occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste; the risk level may increase depending on the essential job duties.
