Special Education Teacher in Littleton, CO

Step into a vital role supporting elementary students with significant cognitive and behavioral needs in a well-resourced, collaborative school environment. Two full-time opportunities are available for dedicated special education teachers to make a lasting difference in Structured Learning Services classrooms at two elementary schools near Littleton, CO. Each setting features a small caseload (7-15 students), allowing for focused and individualized support. You'll work closely with related service providers, help students access general education classrooms as appropriate, and play a key role in managing paraprofessionals on your team, all while supported by an engaged district eager to welcome new talent.


Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Current Colorado Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement required
• Demonstrated experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly those who are non-verbal; AAC device experience strongly preferred
• Skilled in managing significant behavioral challenges, including familiarity with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
• Previous experience in station-based classroom models and with researched-based interventions for autism
• Experience supporting and guiding paraprofessionals in instructional settings
• Strong interpersonal skills to align with existing multi-disciplinary teams (SLP/OT/PT/Psychology)

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate individualized education and behavioral programming within a small, structured classroom setting
• Collaborate seamlessly with related service staff, coordinating push-in/pull-out services for students
• Lead and mentor paraprofessionals to ensure effective student support and safety
• Implement and monitor FBAs/BIPs, collecting data and adjusting interventions as needed
• Engage with families and multidisciplinary teams to promote student progress
