Job Overview City/State: White Plains, New York. Department: WPH Lab Anatomic Pathology. Work Shift: Evening. Work Days: VARY. Scheduled Hours & Hours Per Pay Period: Hours Vary. Pay Rate/Range: $32.50 - $48.76. The displayed rate is the hiring rate and may change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Understand and adhere to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Follow laboratory pre‑analytic and analytic procedures and maintain records of tests. Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are processed in the same manner as patient specimens. Adhere to quality assurance procedures, documenting quality control activities, calibrations, instrument and equipment verifications, maintenance and preventative maintenance. Follow laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside established performance specifications. Identify and document problems that may affect test performance, notify supervisors or directors, and document corrective actions. Ensure the accuracy and quality of all results from pre‑analytic, analytic, and post‑analytic phases. Perform embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks following protocol. Evaluate routine H&E stain daily, review for inconsistencies, confirm or correct before releasing slides. Perform special stains and immunohistochemistry stains, check positive/negative controls, and document on run logs. Escalate any issues with samples, equipment or testing to supervisors and the assigned pathologist. Notify clinicians and patient units of all critical values and maintain laboratory STAT turnaround time requirements. Participate in regulatory readiness for CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and the Joint Commission. Maintain 12 Continuing Education credits per year. Participate in SOPs, proficiency testing, inspection audits, quality programs, and reporting non‑conformances. Evaluate test results for abnormalities and confirm results per department protocols where required. Participate in validations, training, and competency assessments as required. Manage inventory of lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirements. Complete all annual mandatory training, in‑services, and ongoing education. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Current NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician license, NYS Histotechnician, or NYS PA license required. Education in accordance with NYS Office of Professions and CLIA testing personnel requirements. Preferred: ASCP certification.
