Job Description

A well-established precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up Machinist to set up new and repeat jobs and produce precision machined components to blueprint specifications. In this hands-on role, you’ll create and edit programs at the machine, complete tooling changes and offsets, produce first-piece parts for approval, and establish stable machining processes for production. This position is ideal for an experienced machinist who can independently complete CNC setups, troubleshoot machining issues, and consistently work to tight tolerances.

Responsibilities:

• Set up CNC machines for new and repeat production jobs
• Read and interpret blueprints, job routers, and manufacturing specifications
• Create and edit CNC programs at the machine
• Change tooling and make machine offsets and adjustments as needed
• Produce first-piece parts and submit them for first-article approval
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment to verify critical dimensions
• Maintain required production and quality documentation
• Troubleshoot setup and machining issues
• Establish stable machining processes before transitioning production to an operator
• Communicate machining and setup concerns with manufacturing leadership and engineering

  Qualifications and Requirements:

• 3+ years of CNC setup or machining experience preferred
• Strong CNC setup experience with mills and/or lathes
• Experience with Fanuc controls preferred
• Knowledge of G-code and M-code
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
• Experience using precision inspection and measuring equipment
• Ability to machine parts to tight tolerances
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Experience in a precision machining environment preferred
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of machine setups

The base pay range for this position is up to $40 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final compensation will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future growth.
