3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic is a community-based agency providing youth in the Bayview Hunters Point with medical and behavioral health services that encourage them to make decisions that support their health, safety, and development. 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic also manages a number of successful Transitional Age Youth (TAY) housing stabilization programs and one of the city’s few Youth Access Points. The Residential Behavioral Health Program spans two sites: the Lower Polk TAY Navigation Center and Just Home Transitional Housing. Together, these programs provide behavioral health and supportive services to Transitional Age Youth (TAY) experiencing homelessness and system involvement, with a focus on stabilization, skill-building, and long‑term housing readiness. The Lower Polk TAY Navigation Center (TAY Nav) is a low‑barrier residential shelter serving unhoused TAY. The program is grounded in a “meet youth where they are” approach, prioritizing safety, accessibility, and engagement. Services include shelter, meals, showers, laundry, case management, behavioral health support, and connections to education and employment resources. Staff work closely with residents to support stabilization and help them identify and move toward individualized short‑ and long‑term goals. Position summary: We are looking for qualified trauma‑informed Residential Clinical Social Workers to observe, assess, and treat individuals with behavioral health disorders such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, autism, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, Substance Use Disorders, etc. The Residential Clinical Social Workers should be patient, compassionate, and have good communication skills. Top candidates have excellent clinical knowledge, demonstrable client engagement skills, meaningful therapy experience, and the ability to thrive in and enjoy a lively and dynamic residential milieu. We are actively designing our Residential Behavioral Health services programs and are currently building our team. This position therefore offers a chance to be a creative partner with our residents and the Director of Residential Behavioral Health to innovate and design the best possible program to fit the youths’ needs. Individual and group supervision is available and we prioritize creating a supportive work environment amongst all team members. Duties & Responsibilities: Provide general program support to 3rd Street’s Residential Housing sites with de‑escalation and behavioral health interventions Deliver high quality culturally attuned therapeutic interventions in an active residential milieu environment, delivering both individual and group therapy in a variety of modalities individualized to the needs of residents Work closely with Case Management and other onsite Residential staff to support residents from date of entry to date of discharge Engage in rapport building and relationship development with clients to encourage participation in the program and its services Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, team meetings, agency‑wide meetings, internal and external training, and individual and group supervisions Maintain client records and clinical documentation including: assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes Maintain professional boundaries and HIPAA at all times Collaborate appropriately with client support systems including healthcare and community resources and organizations Establish and maintain effective working relationships Other programmatic duties and tasks as requested About you: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (SKA): Ability to understand the cultural and social factors affecting behavior patterns and behavioral health Knowledge of current theories, practices, and principles and practices for services to clients with serious behavioral health care symptoms and diagnoses Ability to understand community needs, resources and organizations related to behavioral health care Knowledge of HIPAA and electronic health record systems like AVATAR or Epic or other EMR systems. Good communication skills, both verbal and written Strong interpersonal skills Bilingual language capacity preferred Education & Experience: Possession of a Master's degree from a recognized college or university in Social Work Possession of a valid registration as an Associate Social Worker from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences Experience and direct contact providing therapeutic services with clients between the ages of 18‑27 Experience working with diverse populations including persons experiencing homelessness, justice involvement, and those who are dually and triply diagnosed Experience working with youth, individuals with behavioral health concerns, high risk substance use behaviors, working in a shelter, milieu, outreach or justice involved setting, all preferred Experience with wellness, recovery and resiliency‑oriented strategies, dual recovery/co‑occurring disorder treatment, screening and assessment tools. In compliance with the Administrative Simplification provision of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), employees in this classification are required to possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number prior to their first day of employment Physical demands: This position involves regular walking and moving throughout residential program sites, as well as periods of standing and sitting. The role requires frequent communication with residents and team members, including active listening and engagement. Staff may occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds, such as program supplies or materials. The ability to navigate stairs and move between different areas of the site is also required. The work takes place in a residential setting with ongoing interaction with youth and staff. Availability: 3 days in person (9:00 am to 5:30 pm), 1 day in person (11:00 am to 7:30 pm), and optional 1 day remote (9:00am to 5:30 pm) General info: This position is a salary exempt and full time role. This position is based at our TAY Navigation Center in San Francisco with occasional travel to a secondary residential site at Just Home Site in BVHP. This position reports to the Director of Residential Behavioral Health Compensation and benefits: The full salary range for this position is $75,000 – $90,000. We anticipate hiring within a range of $80,000 – $85,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
