Greenskeeper

This position is an entry level, crew member position. Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or the Assistant Superintendent, the selected candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of grass, trees, shrubs, sod, foliage and flowers. In addition, the selected candidate will assist in project work in accordance with his experience and or level of training, as well as performing other duties as directed by the respective supervisor.

Key responsibilities include operating mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; setting tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintaining ball washers; replacing tee towels and flags when needed; removing debris; sanding and seeding tee and drop area divots; and cleaning flower beds.

The candidate will also maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment daily, report equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately, return all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility, and clean the maintenance areas.

Additional duties include watering and fertilizing tees, greens, and fairways, spraying chemicals on landscape areas under direct supervision of a certified applicator, marking the course for cart control weekly, moving cart control barriers and replacing worn or lost ropes and signs, marking hazard and drop areas, assisting in project work, constructing new greens, tees, and fairways, grading and preparing soil base, laying sod, seeding trees, greens, and fairways, installing forms and laying walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes, excavating and backfilling ditches and trenches with hand tools, repairing and replacing pipe on irrigation systems, operating mowers, dump trucks or other light equipment, and performing other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills, and knowledge: high school diploma or equivalent preferred. This position is entry level. Some experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have the following competencies and qualities: working outdoors, often in severe, inclement weather conditions; able to lift up to 80 pounds; the ability to stand for long periods of time; able to perform tasks while bending, twisting, kneeling, walking; must have reliable transportation; must obtain and maintain a valid driver's license; must clear a pre-employment drug screen and background; must provide employment eligibility; ability to work Monday through Friday, every Saturday, and every other Sunday.
