Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a PICU/NICU/L&D role requiring 2+ years pediatric ICU experience and recent children's hospital experience.

Details

• Children's hospital setting with home unit assigned to NICU, PICU, or Peds upon arrival
• Primarily works in Labor & Delivery (L&D) with additional coverage in PICU, NICU, and Peds
• May float to PICU, NICU, Peds, and to an affiliate hospital nearby
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
• Cerner charting preferred

Requirements

• Current RRT certification through NBRC
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NRP certification required if placed in L&D
• PALS certification preferred
• Indiana state license required (or IN temporary license with application submitted for permanent); license required if applicable
• Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PICU
• Children's hospital experience within the last 3-5 years required; strong candidates from Level I Trauma adult facilities may be considered
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric airway management, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with medication delivery systems and administration of respiratory medications
• Ability to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Experience with Servo U ventilator equipment preferred
• Two supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients across PICU, NICU, and L&D settings
• Perform pulmonary hygiene, airway management, and ventilator management for critically ill pediatric patients
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Indiana residents are considered local candidates
• Candidates must confirm comfort with the every other weekend schedule requirement prior to consideration
• RTO of 5 days or less is auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Floating within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital is required for all travelers
• Former IU Health permanent or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as travelers
• Travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility before their year mark
