Job Summary Employee Relations Specialist – University Human Resource Management (UHRM) is committed to customer service and efficiency. This role supports a variety of university departments, focusing on employee relations, corrective and disciplinary actions, liability management, and the annual evaluation process. The position is hybrid, requiring at least two days in office per week. Key Responsibilities Interprets and applies UofU Human Resources policies, consulting administrators, supervisors, and staff on employee relations, performance, conduct, and behavior. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and university regulations regarding Human Resource activities. May perform special projects as assigned. Provides advice and recommendations for new policies and revisions. Evaluates and documents HR processes to improve efficiency. Recommends modifications to existing practices and coordinates implementation. Writes and edits documents with department managers to align with university policies and best practices. Works closely with other HR teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency. Minimum Qualifications 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of experience). The department may hire an employee at one of the following levels: Employee Relations Specialist, I: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) plus 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree. Preferred Experience Proven experience exercising strong communication and interpersonal skills with all staff and faculty. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding time frames. Ability to work rapidly and accurately under competing deadlines and frequent interruptions. Skilled in managing sensitive and confidential information. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives.
