Work Environment

Our Surgical Center is a fast-paced environment that requires quick thinking and effective teamwork. The work schedule consists of 40 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday, initiating with a 5:00 p.m. shift aimed at optimizing our service to patients with trauma and urgent needs. Key Responsibilities

• Respond swiftly to trauma alerts, conducting thorough assessments of patients’ conditions upon arrival.
• Stabilize patients, utilizing advanced life support techniques to prevent further deterioration of their health.
• Assist in resuscitation efforts and provide essential life-saving interventions during emergencies.
• Engage in the coordination of inter-professional care, ensuring comprehensive management of trauma patients.
• Perform detailed physical examinations and interpret diagnostic results to aid in clinical decision-making.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment plans, in alignment with physician guidelines.
• Assist in performing invasive procedures, including suturing and wound management, as needed.
• Educate patients and their families regarding trauma care procedures and recovery expectations.
• Facilitate the transfer of patients to appropriate healthcare units or facilities, ensuring continuity of care.
• Monitor and regulate patients’ pain management strategies, offering immediate relief as required.
• Collaborate continuously with multidisciplinary teams to uphold seamless patient care throughout the injury recovery process.
• Strictly adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards pertinent to trauma care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve patients experiencing acute orthopedic trauma, ranging from sports injuries to complex fractures and post-surgical recovery. The general aim is to improve patient outcomes by providing expedient and effective care in critical situations. By integrating collaborative practices with surgeons and nursing staff, you will help create a nurturing environment focused on patient-centered care, thereby expediting recovery times and enhancing overall patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, followed by completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant in New York.
• Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in emergency medicine or trauma care, providing a solid foundation for managing acute patient scenarios.
• In-depth knowledge of trauma assessment and stabilization protocols, showcasing your preparedness for critical situations.
• Able to competently perform trauma-related procedures under supervision, demonstrating willingness to learn and grow within the role.
• Exceptional clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.

Compensation and Benefits
