Tax Manager

Summary

Whitecap Search is seeking an experienced professional to join our growing public accounting firm. This individual will play a key role in overseeing tax engagements, managing workflow, mentoring staff, and serving as a trusted advisor to a long-standing and diverse client base. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-focused, organized, and comfortable operating in a collaborative, relationship-driven environment.

Function

This position offers significant client interaction, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and future technology initiatives within the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review a variety of tax engagements, including corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns.
• Oversee tax compliance processes, quarterly projects, and year-end filings to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
• Provide tax planning and advisory services to clients across multiple industries and entity structures.
• Manage engagement budgets, production goals, and workflow scheduling to optimize team efficiency and client service.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong professional relationships through regular communication and in-person meetings.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff members, including reviewing work and providing technical guidance.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on operational improvements, workflow management, and strategic initiatives.
• Utilize and support firm technology platforms including Lacerte, QuickBooks, and CCH Engagement.

Requirements

• CPA is a must.
• 5 years of experience in the field.
• Experience with Lacerte, QuickBooks & CCH Engagement is a big plus.
• Strong experience with corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns.
• Prior experience reviewing returns and managing workflow preferred.
• Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
