Senior Accountant

Senior AccountantA mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and provide guidance to the accounting team. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience and prior supervisory or team-lead responsibilities.Responsibilities:Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activitiesReview general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilitiesPrepare monthly financial statements, cost allocations, revenue entries, and variance analysesSupport annual budgeting and prepare government invoices and expenditure reportsCoordinate with internal and external auditors and assist with tax-return schedulesReview payroll, employee accruals, vendor payments, and ACH payment filesMaintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and funder requirementsProvide guidance, training, and oversight to accounting team membersPartner with finance leadership to improve accounting procedures and processesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related fieldAt least five years of progressive accounting experiencePrevious supervisory, team-lead, or staff-development experienceStrong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controlsExperience with nonprofit, fund accounting, government reporting, or grant-funded organizations is highly preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting and payroll systemsSage 100 and Paylocity experience is a plusStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently$78,500 - $85,000 a year
