Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ mental health, focusing on the emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors that influence obesity and binge eating.

• Utilize standardized assessment tools to accurately identify mental health challenges and inform treatment strategy development.

• Provide personalized counseling sessions tailored to address each patient’s unique needs, facilitating their emotional resilience and behavioral change.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans, ensuring that they align with patients' goals and preferences.

• Educate clients on critical psychological concepts such as self-esteem, body image, stress management, and healthy coping mechanisms related to weight management.

• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care, addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of health.

• Utilize evidence-based therapeutic methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, to foster long-term changes in patient behavior.

• Lead and facilitate group therapy sessions, providing a supportive atmosphere for patients to share their experiences and insights.

• Regularly assess and document patients’ progress towards their mental health and weight management goals using EPIC electronic medical records (EMR).

• Staying informed of the latest research and best practices relevant to mental health counseling and weight management.

• Participate in team collaborative efforts, meetings, and case conferences to discuss patient progress and enhance treatment strategies.

Qualifications\n

• A bachelor’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field is required.

• Must possess an unrestricted License as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York.

• Strong written and oral communication skills are essential for effective patient interaction and documentation.

• The ability to lift or move up to 15 lbs occasionally, as well as specific vision capabilities, including close and distance vision, are required.

Preferred Experience\n

• A minimum of one year of professional experience in mental health counseling, particularly in settings focused on weight management or eating disorders.

• Previous experience using electronic medical record systems, specifically EPIC, will be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this full-time position ranges from $90,000 to $105,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Employees may also be eligible for loan repayment programs and long-term disability plans, ensuring financial security and support throughout their career.
