Supervisor, Specimen Processing - Weekend AM

Abbott seeks a Supervisor for Specimen Processing at its Cancer Diagnostics facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This weekend and night shift role oversees daily operations of the specimen processing department, including staff management, quality assurance, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate staff to achieve quality and productivity targets during assigned shifts
• Manage daily operations including workflow organization, equipment maintenance, and task delegation
• Conduct employee performance monitoring, feedback sessions, and disciplinary actions as needed
• Investigate specimen processing issues and perform root cause analysis to maintain turnaround times
• Support quality initiatives, process improvements, audits, and cross-functional departmental projects

Requirements

• Supervisory or leadership experience in laboratory or clinical setting
• Knowledge of laboratory policies, procedures, and quality management systems
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work nights and weekends exclusively
• Physical capability to lift 40 pounds and alternate between sitting and standing
• Experience with staff recruitment, performance management, and employee development
