Make a difference in the lives of young learners by stepping into a vital role as a Special Education Teacher serving elementary students from kindergarten through fifth grade. This contract position is located near Liberty, MO and starts as soon as possible, running through the end of the school year. You’ll work full-time, dedicating your skills and compassion to support students’ academic and developmental growth in a collaborative school environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction, individualized educational plans, and adaptations for students with varying abilities in grades K-5
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure personalized support for each student
- Conduct assessments, collect data, and monitor student progress, adjusting strategies to meet evolving needs
- Participate in IEP meetings, document student goals, and maintain compliance with special education policies and regulations
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment—no behavior-focused classroom or “behavior room” included in this caseload
- Foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to enhance student success
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid state teaching certification with Special Education endorsement, or eligibility to obtain
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably within elementary settings
- Strong understanding of IEP development and compliance procedures
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in supporting diverse learning needs
