Job Description Braintree Public Schools is seeking a collaborative, knowledgeable, and student‑centered educator (.6 FTE) to provide specialized literacy instruction to students with reading disabilities for the 2026‑27 School Year. Ideal candidates are licensed in Moderate Disabilities/Special Education and have training and experience in structured literacy approaches such as Orton‑Gillingham (OG) and/or Wilson Reading System. This position provides individualized and small‑group instruction to students with disabilities, with a primary emphasis on reading services through evidence‑based, structured, multi‑sensory literacy instruction. The role supports students in developing foundational reading, writing, decoding, encoding, and spelling skills aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or related field required Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred Special Education licensure required SEI endorsement required Certification in Orton‑Gillingham (e.g., Associate, Certified, or equivalent) or Wilson Reading System Experience working with students with learning disabilities, particularly students with reading disabilities such as dyslexia Experience providing services in inclusion, small‑group, and individual settings Experience evaluating student skills, interpreting assessment data, and writing reports to summarize findings Experience developing and writing IEPs Knowledge of evidence‑based reading practices and progress monitoring Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills Responsibilities Deliver explicit, systematic, and multi‑sensory reading instruction using Orton‑Gillingham methodologies and/or other structured literacy approaches Provide individualized and small‑group instruction to students with identified learning disabilities Administer formal and informal assessments and analyze data to inform decisions regarding IEP goals and objectives, instructional approaches, and student supports Develop, implement, and support IEP goals, accommodations, and specialized instruction Evaluate student progress toward goals and objectives, maintain records, and adjust individual and group instruction accordingly Develop reading, writing, spelling, decoding, and encoding skills through evidence‑based instructional practices Collaborate with special education teachers, general education staff, related service providers, and administrators Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies to support learning at home Participate in team meetings, including IEP meetings when appropriate Maintain accurate documentation and student progress data Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment Join a dedicated team committed to helping students become confident, successful readers through individualized support and high‑quality instruction.
