Work Environment

This position is onsite at a school facility in Dallas, where the collaborative environment will allow you to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including school nurses, healthcare providers, and educational staff. Key Responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive dermatology patient care through initial assessments, diagnosis, and treatment plans in coordination with attending MDs.
• Provide educational support and counseling to patients and families regarding skin health, preventive measures, and treatment options.
• Perform routine procedures such as skin biopsies, cryotherapy, and the application of topical treatments while ensuring accurate documentation of findings and treatments in patient records.
• Stay abreast of the latest dermatological practices and advancements by engaging in self-education and continuing education programs.
• Attend and participate in regular staff meetings and mandatory in-service training, ensuring compliance with all competency evaluations and performance standards.
• Demonstrate competence in patient care by considering individual patient needs related to factors such as age, sex, and medical history.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role serves a diverse patient population within a school environment, addressing a variety of dermatological concerns commonly seen in children and adolescents. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be crucial in recognizing and treating skin disorders, educating families on skincare practices, and promoting overall health and wellness within the school community.

Qualifications

• A Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Current Nurse Practitioner Certification (NP-C) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are mandatory. Other department-specific certifications may be required.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding towards patients.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage a busy practice effectively.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of one year of experience in a dermatology or specialized medical practice is strongly preferred, though candidates with diverse backgrounds in pediatric nursing may also be considered.
• Experience working in educational settings or knowledge of child developmental needs is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits
