LHH is actively seeking a Payroll Manager skilled in Unionized payroll and agreements for one of our top clients! This will be contract to hire with our client and will report onsite to their office in San Diego.
Payroll Specialist - Temp-to-Hire

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with strong hands-on payroll expertise in a unionized environment . This is a temp-to-hire opportunity , with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll operations and experience working with and interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) . This role will play an important part in overseeing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, and properly applying contractual pay provisions.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee full-cycle payroll administration
  
  
• Interpret and apply union contracts and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs)
  
  
• Ensure accurate timekeeping, payroll processing, and compliance
  
  
• Administer wage rates, step increases, overtime, premiums, differentials, and other contractual pay provisions
  
  
• Conduct payroll audits and reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  
  
• Ensure compliance with California wage and hour requirements
  
  
• Partner closely with HR and Operations to address payroll-related issues
  
  
• Maintain accurate payroll records and support a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  
  

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring a strong payroll foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of the payroll function. Experience in a unionized environment and a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply CBAs are particularly important for this role.


Key qualifications include:

• Strong hands-on experience with full-cycle payroll
  
  
• Experience processing payroll in a unionized environment
  
  
• Proven ability to interpret and apply CBAs
  
  
• Knowledge of wage rates, step increases, overtime, premiums, and differentials
  
  
• Experience with payroll audits, reconciliations, and discrepancy resolution
  
  
• Knowledge of California wage and hour regulations
  
  
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  
  
• Ability to collaborate effectively with HR and Operations in a fast-paced environment
  
  

Position Type

Temp-to-Hire: The selected candidate will initially join as a temporary employee, with the intention of transitioning to a permanent role based on performance, fit, and business needs.

Pay Details: $50.00 to $55.00 per hour
