About the Opportunity

A growing, privately held organization in a manufacturing/distribution environment is seeking an Accounting Manager / Controller to lead core accounting operations and support continued business growth.

This role is open due to active hiring needs and offers a fast-moving interview process , strong visibility to executive leadership, and a clear path for advancement. The organization is open to both:

Compensation

• $120K - $135K for experienced Controller-level candidates
  
• $105K - $115K for high-potential step-up candidates
  

About the Role

This position will oversee full-cycle accounting operations , drive accuracy in financial reporting, and lead process improvements across the accounting function.

You'll partner closely with leadership to improve financial visibility, strengthen controls, and enhance operational efficiency-particularly across cost accounting and inventory-driven processes .

Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting

• Manage general ledger activities and ensure accuracy of financial records
  
• Lead month-end close , including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
  
• Review and analyze balance sheet reconciliations , accruals, and intercompany transactions
  
• Own P&L analysis , including variance identification and investigation
  

Cost Accounting & Operations

• Oversee cost accounting processes , including inventory valuation and product costing
  
• Monitor and improve inventory management and controls
  
• Assist with P&L allocations and cost analysis to support decision-making
  

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify and implement improvements in AP/AR processes and automation initiatives
  
• Enhance workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting
  
• Support ERP/system optimization where applicable
  

Leadership & Business Partnership

• Support or lead junior accounting staff (depending on level)
  
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams
  
• Assist in building scalable processes to support growth
  

Requirements
Must-Have

• Experience managing general ledger and month-end close processes
  
• Strong background in balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany accounting
  
• Ability to analyze financial statements and investigate variances
  
• Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality in a fast-paced environment
  

Highly Preferred

• Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments
  
• Exposure to cost accounting and inventory management
  
• Experience with process improvement or automation (AP/AR or close process)
  
• Prior leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role
