Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to ER patients across age ranges as assigned, following the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Administer medications and IV therapies, monitor patient status, and respond to changes in condition; perform needed ED procedures within scope of practice.
• Collaborate with physicians and the health care team to coordinate timely interventions and ensure safe patient care transitions.
• Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record, including medication administration, assessments, and discharge planning; communicate clearly with patients and families.
• Contribute to discharge planning and patient education, ensuring comprehension and safety at home care.
• Maintain patient safety, infection control, and adherence to hospital policies; participate in unit handoffs and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in California
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS required at time of hire; TNCC within 1 year; IV Sedation within 6 months; Dysrhythmia competency demonstrated during orientation (excluding OB/NICU)
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience
• BSN preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts
