Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Float Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Valid compact or state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: IV start experience Telemetry experience Description: The position involves working in a float pool. Staff may be required to float to different units as needed. Floating may occur within units of equivalent or lower acuity levels. Estimated patient ratios are between 1:3 to 4. Ideal candidates should possess skills such as IV start and telemetry experience. Candidates should be familiar with arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, and blood product administration. Experience with central line care and management, as well as chest tube management, is essential. Candidates must be able to interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge is required. Management of cardiac drips and non-titration vasoactive drips is necessary. Experience with renal failure management, and starting and maintaining IV therapy is expected. Prior experience in procedural sedation administration and monitoring is a plus. Healthcare professionals will work with an interdisciplinary support team. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. The workload primarily comprises step-down and PCU-type patients. Candidates should be prepared for various patient diagnoses. Flexibility to adapt to shifting staffing needs will be important. Reference requirements include two professional references, one of which must be from a managerial capacity.
