Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Telemetry RN experience required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; ONS preferred but not required Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone with manager's approval if no experience), general medical/surgical skills for care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our MedSurg/Telemetry unit. This unit has 34 beds with an average census of 32 plus 3 surge rooms. Patient types and common diagnoses include ESRD, CHF, pneumonia, sickle cell crisis, diabetes/DKA, and acute/chronic renal failure. Mostly medical patients are present, with a few surgical patients. Starting Spring 2026, the unit will also care for hematology/oncology patients. Travelers do not need to have chemotherapy certification and will not administer chemotherapy. Travelers must be comfortable caring for hematology/oncology patients. Patient ratios are RN: 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night (critical surge 1:7-8). CNA ratios are 1:12 for both day and night shifts. Support within the department includes nursing assistants for patient care (ADLs/vitals/nutrition) and mobility. There is a receptionist and healthcare unit coordinator available 24/7 to validate EKGs. A charge nurse is present along with phlebotomy services, IV/VAT team, and dedicated pharmacist 24/7 on the unit. Two case managers are available per unit, alongside a MedSurg clinical nurse specialist and respiratory therapy 24/7 for nebulizer treatments. Telemetry monitoring and technology include an EMR system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice based on department needs. If floating mid-shift, the traveler will be paid for the time spent traveling between facilities. The unit has a welcoming and psychologically safe culture, emphasizing fairness.
