Executive Director, Medical Affairs - COPD
Merck
Executive Director leading global medical affairs strategy and execution for COPD at Merck. Role combines 50% U.S. focus with 50% rest-of-world responsibility, requiring strategic planning, cross-functional partnership, and team leadership across multiple geographies and stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
- Generate and oversee execution of global Value & Implementation strategic plans for COPD
- Lead team as change catalyst while ensuring alignment between U.S. and international markets
- Partner with product development, brand, and outcomes research teams on clinical and brand strategies
- Engage international scientific leaders and stakeholders on emerging science and innovation adoption
- Manage assigned budget with strong financial stewardship and accountability
Requirements
- M.D., Ph.D., DDS/DMD, or Pharm.D. (M.D. strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in global medical affairs strategy and execution
- Leadership experience managing high-performing teams across multiple regions
- Knowledge of healthcare systems, clinical practice standards, and therapeutic areas
- Strong business acumen and financial management capability
- Ability to engage with scientific leaders, payers, and key decision-makers globally
