Academic Hematopathologist

Position Summary The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an academic Pathologist with sub‑specialty training in Hematopathology. Candidates will receive a tenure‑track/tenured, fixed‑term, or variable‑track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Key Responsibilities Provide primary service in hematopathology, including case review and consultation. Engage in clinical and research activities in hematology and related diagnostic modalities such as flow cytometry or molecular diagnostics. Participate in teaching duties within the School of Medicine and the Graduate School. Develop and lead high‑quality research projects in collaboration with internal and external partners, with opportunities to access the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Contribute to departmental leadership; highly qualified candidates may be considered for Director of Hematopathology. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements MD or DO degree. Board certification or board eligibility in Hematopathology and in Clinical and/or Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Eligibility to obtain a medical license in North Carolina. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Primary service assignment in hematopathology. Experience with flow cytometry or molecular diagnostics. Strong record of scholarly research in hematology, oncology, or related areas. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor trainees.
