About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the operational and business functions that support its mission of empowering science-based entrepreneurship. The COO will be responsible for the overall leadership of the organization's laboratory, facilities, and client service delivery, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure and technical capabilities. This role requires a strategic leader with a hands-on approach, capable of managing operating budgets, external contractors, and service providers, and partnering with clients to continually improve service quality and the client experience. The COO will also oversee business, financial, grant, and contract operations, and provide executive oversight of EH&S, regulatory compliance, and operational risk management. Candidates for the COO position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a preference for an advanced degree, and at least 10 years of operational leadership experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in overseeing complex, regulated operations, and demonstrated financial acumen. Experience in a nonprofit, public-private partnership, or multi-stakeholder governance environment is a plus. The successful COO will be a trusted strategic partner, capable of translating organizational priorities into disciplined execution, and will be instrumental in the growth and success of the company's client companies and programs. Key outcomes for the role include maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the company's facilities, delivering high-quality services, and building a strong pipeline of science-based companies.
