Embark on a rewarding school-based contract supporting students from Pre-K through 12th grade with your expertise in occupational therapy. This full-time opportunity is designed to cover an FMLA leave across a supportive district, beginning as soon as possible, with a projected duration of approximately 12 weeks. While this assignment specifically covers a maternity leave, there is a strong possibility of extension, though the initial contract will reflect only the guaranteed leave period. Candidates should be fully comfortable with the temporary nature of this role, with the understanding that an extension may occur but cannot be guaranteed at this time.
Bring your skills and compassion to help students excel in their educational journey and daily life skills, all while collaborating with engaged educational teams across the district.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current and active Connecticut Occupational Therapist (OT) license or COTA certification (CT DPH license and passed NBCOT exam)
- Previous experience working in schools preferred
- Experience supporting students with diverse needs and abilities
- Reliable transportation for district-wide travel
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ready and available to start as soon as possible, with flexible scheduling pending district confirmation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade
- Develop, implement, and adapt treatment plans to align with students’ IEPs and educational goals
- Collaborate thoughtfully with teachers, staff, and families to promote student growth
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and progress
- Support students with various disabilities in accessing learning and increasing independence
- COTA candidates will work under OT supervision as required
