Associate Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks a passionate and experienced Associate Attorney in Royal Oak, MI, to manage a mixed caseload of family law and criminal defense matters. This role involves hands‑on litigation, requiring a self‑starter ready to handle cases from intake through resolution. The attorney will regularly appear in court, work closely with clients, and collaborate with a supportive team. Duties Provide expert counsel in divorce, child custody, and support matters. Draft and negotiate prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Handle hearings, mediations, and trials in family law cases. Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony matters. Conduct bond hearings and argue motions in criminal cases. Manage a full caseload independently, meeting all deadlines. Conduct legal research and draft pleadings and motions. Maintain communication with clients and address their concerns. Collaborate with legal professionals and stay updated on Michigan law. Requirements Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan. Minimum of 2-3 years of litigation experience in family law and/or criminal defense. Demonstrated courtroom experience, including hearings and motions. Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Excellent judgment and organizational skills. Ability to manage a busy caseload independently. Genuine care for clients and ability to counsel them through high‑stakes situations. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Michigan. Skills Strong legal research and writing skills. Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
