Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct initial mental health evaluations through in-depth preliminary interviews, documenting client interactions and treatment progress from inception to completion.

• Assess the emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being of clients facing a range of mental health challenges.
\n
• Develop individualized recovery and intervention plans that cater to the specific needs of individuals, couples, families, and diverse groups.
\n
• Lead therapeutic sessions, fostering a supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions and strategies for managing their mental health.

• Monitor and track client progress throughout treatment, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.

• Collaborate regularly with psychiatrists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and referrals for clients requiring additional services.

• Provide follow-up support for clients transitioning from hospital care back to outpatient services, addressing any barriers to recovery.

• Work closely with family members and caregivers to design strategies for managing mental health challenges, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery.

Qualifications\n

• A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in the state of New York.

• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).

• A proven track record of experience working as a mental health counselor in outpatient settings.
\n
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, for efficient service delivery.

Preferred Experience\n

• Experience engaging with clients who face co-occurring physical and emotional health conditions as well as addiction-related disorders.

• Knowledge of best practices set forth by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).

• In-depth understanding of the implications of medication prescribed for mental health conditions, including potential side effects.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on building rapport and maintaining therapeutic relationships.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities critical for documentation and client interactions.
